CAT NIP

The scientific name for cat nip is Nepeta Cataria. It is a herb from the mint family, containing a compound called “Nepe Falactone”, which triggers a euphoric response in cats.

Here at Cattitude we use cat nip for several things. Love this stuff!

  1. we use it for scratching training. I always purchase cat trees with sissal rope on them. Then weekly I rub dry cat nip into the rope…..Works Wonders in attracting the kitties to the rope to scratch. Thus protecting our furniture!

  2. I plant fresh cat nip around our home, both in the front flower gardens and in the back in pots on our patio. Cat nip is a deterrent to fleas and ticks, and mites…all the things we want to keep away from our cats,./..and us! This cat nip is then what I hang to dry and use on the cat trees.

  3. Training, The cat nip is a great training device! Weve used it for teaching many things…using the toilet, even using a litterbox, and simple tricks. Makes a great reward for them!
