Cat Play!

Cats are what is called crepuscular, meaning they’re not Nocturnal, like most people think. It means they are most active at dawn and dusk. Kitty parents should use these times for play time.

If your wanting to leash train your cat these are the best times for training…not only the best time for playing! You can also schedule playtime and training time around their meals. Using food as treats is NOT just for dogs.

Cats are jumpers! They jump in order to explore the area, hunt, and play; these behaviors are rooted in their natural instincts.

Most cats can jump up to 9 feet straight up! Because of their powerful back legs and a flexible spine. Bengals because of their exotic heritage can usually do up to 10 feet! Persians ussually are are the lower side…more because of their calm serene nature than due to physical limitations.

Cats can jump about five to six times their body length in a single vertical leap … If humans had the same jumping ability, a 6-foot person would be able to make a 36-foot leap—that’s the height of a telephone pole!”

Also health conditions will affect how high a cat can jump. Providing safe spaces for your cat’s jumping is important ! A good cat tree is a great investment.

We always buy the trees with sissal rope…and then rub the sissal rope with cat nip each week…..A fantastic way to not only entertain your cat but to keep scratches off your furniture!
